Traditional Concrete Foundations Could Not Be Used As Concrete Would Have Interfered With The Tree Root System Breaching The Preservation Order Placed On The Trees. The challengeRedrow Homes were faced with a challenging task of securing the perimeter of the new development within a TPO and root protection area. Traditional excavation and concrete footings would have damaged the tree root system and contaminated the sub-surface with pollutants. The solutionWe supplied and installed 21 x 114mm x 2100mm Ground Screws which removed the requirement of digging in the root protection area and using concrete footings. The precisely installed Ground Screw’s provided a point foundation and fixing detail for the steel railing to be installed along the perimeter. The perimeter spanned over undulating ground which required the Ground Screws to be set at different heights to ensure the railings were secured to ground level. This showcases another great example of the versatility of our Ground Screws.
